Loughborough University hosted its first Heavy Throws open day in August, showcasing the excellent coaching, facilities and student experience it offers.
Prospective Shot, Discus and Hammer throwers were invited, along with their parents and coaches, to get a taste of what training at the University would be like.
Head Throws Coach, David Turner and Simon Wombwell, the Education and Development Manager delivered an introduction to the university.
The coaches then ran a two-hour practical session followed by lunch at the Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel and a tour of the new Claudia Parsons hall.
The Strength and Conditioning and Physical Therapy teams concluded the day with sessions in Powerbase gym.
David Turner said:
“Feedback from prospective students and their parents and coaches has been overwhelmingly positive and we hope to run a similar event next year.
"The day gave the attendees a real taste of the quality of training available at Loughborough.”
